{"id":6133,"date":"2024-03-31T13:39:33","date_gmt":"2024-03-31T11:39:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/almenda.org\/?p=6133"},"modified":"2024-04-22T11:03:40","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T09:03:40","slug":"osobi-ta-universiteti-prichetni-do-peremishhennya-ta-indoktrinacii-ukrainskix-ditej-z-tot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/almenda.org\/en\/osobi-ta-universiteti-prichetni-do-peremishhennya-ta-indoktrinacii-ukrainskix-ditej-z-tot\/","title":{"rendered":"Persons and universities involved in the displacement and indoctrination of Ukrainian children"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Russian policy towards Ukrainian children in the temporarily occupied territories is aimed at <strong>indoctrination<\/strong>, <strong>destruction of Ukrainian identity <\/strong>in children and their <strong>militarization<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Russia has been implementing this policy since 2014 through various instruments and mechanisms, strengthening and expanding them after the full-scale invasion. One of these new tools, which was created in 2022, is the <strong>University Sessions program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a program that is held on the campuses of Russian universities for children from the temporarily occupied territories aged 12-17, during shifts of 10 days each. The goal of the <strong>program <\/strong>is career guidance and the formation of Russian identity, but in fact it is the<strong> Russification of Ukrainian children<\/strong>, the erasure of Ukrainian identity and the stimulation of their relocation from the occupied territories to study and further residence in the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the two years of the University Sessions program, <strong>10,611 children were taken out in 2022 and 10,700 children in 2023<\/strong> from the temporarily occupied parts of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The removal of Ukrainian children from the temporarily occupied territories (TOT) for such a program is <strong>contrary to international law<\/strong>, in particular, the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 49 of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons, and Article 43 of the Hague Rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key <strong>implementers of the program are Russian higher education organizations<\/strong> (HEIs), and we have identified 63 universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, the Russian Society &#8220;Znanie&#8221;, the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs &#8220;Rosmolodyozh&#8221; and their leaders personally play a major role in illegal actions &#8211; indoctrination, Russification of Ukrainian children through the &#8220;University Sessions&#8221; program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We conducted a detailed investigation of 7 universities and two people responsible for implementing the program and making key decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We describe in more detail in the document below the involvement of these individuals and universities in illegal actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><object class=\"wp-block-file__embed\" data=\"https:\/\/almenda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Persons-and-universities-involved-in-the-displacement-and-indoctrination-of-Ukrainian-children.pdf\" type=\"application\/pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px\" aria-label=\"Embed of Persons and universities involved in the displacement and indoctrination of Ukrainian children.\"><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-e0438d62-e7c4-4e0f-b4e1-98ee35586bdd\" href=\"https:\/\/almenda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Persons-and-universities-involved-in-the-displacement-and-indoctrination-of-Ukrainian-children.pdf\">Persons and universities involved in the displacement and indoctrination of Ukrainian children<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/almenda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Persons-and-universities-involved-in-the-displacement-and-indoctrination-of-Ukrainian-children.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-e0438d62-e7c4-4e0f-b4e1-98ee35586bdd\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">The document was prepared by the Center for Civic Education \u201cAlmenda\u201d with the financial support of the Czech organization People in Need Ukraine, as a part of the SOS Ukraine initiative.
