The full-scale invasion of the troops of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, which started at 5 a.m. on 24 February 2022, left not one city untouched by the consequences of armed aggression. But the most vulnerable group was 7,5 million Ukrainian children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every day more and more children in Ukraine are horrified by this war: they are killed, maimed, have no access to humanitarian relief, become internally displaced persons and refugees in other countries, come under fire, become hostages of the Russian military and victims of abduction, are deeply traumatized by violence, including sexual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This review collects and analyzes information on major violations committed against children in situations of armed conflict (grave violations against children) during the period from 24 February 24 to 3 June 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In gathering information, the authors were guided by UN Security Council Resolutions 12611 (1999), 18822 (2009), 19983 (2011) and 22254 (2015), which collectively identified six grave violations against children during armed conflict. These violations are the subject of the annual report of the UN Secretary-General titled \u201cChildren and Armed Conflict\u201d and the annual report of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict.
