Thematic overview “Education without the right of access: implementation of the right to education in particularly dangerous territories” (in Ukrainian)
After the full-scale invasion of Russia, some of the participants in the educational process were forced to move within Ukraine or abroad due to threats to their lives, hostilities, and the temporary occupation of certain territories, but many teachers and students of education remained in particularly dangerous territories, and they need special support from the state.
The purpose of the thematic review is to draw the attention of the Ukrainian and international communities to the challenges and opportunities for realizing the right to education in particularly dangerous territories in the conditions of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine after February 24, 2022.
In the content of the thematic review, the above-mentioned right is considered through the main ones signs of the right to education, identified by the UN Committee:
- availability,
- accessibility (non-discrimination, physical and economic accessibility),
- admissibility,
- adaptability of education,
- and also due to the fact that “the right to education can be exercised only if teachers and students have academic freedom.
